Cairn: A heap of stones piled up as a memorial or landmark.
When you stack a cairn, the larger the base stone is…the taller the finished cairn can become.
If cairn building is seen as a metaphor for being on a “spiritual path” then we can learn a practical lesson about the Ego. Many people feel that embarking upon the path means striving to have the smallest stone possible….the smallest ego possible. Do not seek to have lessened ego. Lay down your largest and heaviest stone with love and care.
For if you are seeking to build towards heaven, and you start off small…how high will you get? If you start off with your smallest stone, eventually, when the larger issues surface, you will topple right over-imbalance.
