Poetry: Recently On Earth

Consideration comes cheap
when the market is glutted with imitations,
such that we no longer recognize
an original.
 
Shapeshift honesty is peddled
on every street corner.
 
Friendship is bartered for comfort
and exchanged at exorbitant rates.
 
Childhood becomes
a way of life
when real parents
never were.
 
People believe
that Truth
is actually what they believe.
 
The hunt for Enlightenment
makes you a very clever fox,
but never the hound.
 
Unconditional love
pours off of you,
all of you…
through your gleaming lack of consideration
amidst your no name brand of honesty that isn’t
in your thirst making friendship
while you play at adulthood but ever the infant
and as you think that Truth can be thought up,
this is
enlightened us,
seeing ourselves
through the door of wisdom
in the worst of times.
