How we do it

The scene. 10 PM.  Daughter wrapped in my lungee as a sarong that was bought in India, sits with headlamp and a book on the backporch.  ..balancing out the 3 hours of Xena: Warrior Princess she watched while I was working.  Before that she was pinwheeling in the den with me because my son is playing very danceable music from They Might Be Giants while he does his homework.  He is singing now…I drop in for a break from macaroni stirring-late dinner-to dance every once in a while.  Just enough spinning to make him shake his head and smile…”crazy poppa…”

The kitchen has been on my list for 3 days now.  Just hasn’t made it off the list as of yet.  A hidden benefit of being single is that no one ever has to know about the kitchen again.  Just you and your kids who swear that they like it that way…easier to find things.  It’s all on the counter-somewhere.

Had such a lovely barefoot trail run today.  My kids are alive.  The night is cool and breezy.  I woke up today and got to stick around all the way til now.  The macaroni boils.  I made a whole new website.  I had a banana chocolate chip muffin with soft butter on it.  Have I mentioned that this is the best life I have ever had?

I found some old pics of me when I wore my daughter’s panda hat this winter.  Goofing around.  How does a shopping panda act? Sometimes what people recall the last is to just have fun while here, whenever able.

My son and daughter are at the moment arguing about if he should be allowed to sing out loud…what a lovely problem to be asked to handle…bye.

Extremely heavy Butternut Squash!
