True Nature Video Series Episode 1

Ironically I just finished making a new video featuring me sharing my barefoot trail running thing in the woods.  Why is that ironic?  Because yesterday I was kayaking and I think I broke a rib.  I was supposed to go paddling tomorrow with the kids.  I knew it hurt, I felt it “pop” or “snap” yesterday on the river.  But today I took it easy, did some gentle yoga, headstands…most of my normal poses. I did lots of Chi Lel.  I really thought I could be on the river tomorrow. But then there we were…my daughter and I were dancing in the den tonight to a great song.  My son was smiling and singing.  Then my daughter wrapped her arms around me for a hug, before I could stop her, and gave me a big squeeze!  I literally screamed in pain uncontrollably as her forearm pressed right on the rib.  Wow…that hurt more than I thought it could.  I felt the whole day’s worth of easy moving roll back to pre square ONE.  I felt that “pop” again when she hugged me.  Let’s just say, that I am fine…because I am.  But yeah, I am not going paddling tomorrow with the kids.  At this point, I need help getting off the couch.  So, back to irony.  It is ironic and amusing to finally have finished my first True Nature video, while not even ambulatory.

I have been thinking about this for a while.  I am wanting to make videos that encourage people to be outside.  And if they can’t be outside, I try to capture a lot of good “sound” from out there, to bring into their homes.  I also feel that most videos with outdoorsy things in them are very “actiony”.  There are not a lot of videos of nature just being nature…or of people just being in nature in a more natural way.  So, I am going to see what comes my way and what I can capture while out there that may inspire people to look to nature for help with remembering their true nature without all the action required.

Here is the video, ironically produced, from the couch of a man with a cracked rib…because he was playing outside a bit too rough.
