I endeavor to hold retreats in places where the spirit and intention of the land is in accordance with what I hope the retreat offer’s the practitioner. It is rare to find retreat centers that truly hold a space of solace and rest, while immersed in a natural and remote setting. It is also rare to find a place that can be reserved and held privately and solely just for the retreatants with a lineage that supports resting deeply within. Chamma Ling is such a place.
Chamma Ling, near Crestone, Colorado is a retreat center that is part of the Bon-Buddhism lineage and I feel very honored to have permission to be able to hold a retreat in such a sacred space.

Introduction
I call these retreats “True Nature of Reflection”. I endeavor to find locations where one can “be” immersed inside of nature and within themselves. How often have you wanted to just rest in nature and find refuge within nature and within yourself? And when completely being yourself, how often is it that we allow another to see that unfiltered being..how often do we feel safe enough to do that with ourselves or another?
This True Nature of Reflection retreat is to support being your whole self, in a deeply natural and uninterrupted setting, surrounded by the Colorado mountains. It is a place for you, to be you…and then to take that with you back into your world as you depart.
Format
Friday, October 19th:
Check in and group meal. Orientation to surrounding, natural setting and one another. A facilitated group meeting, introductions, sharing about why we all came. Discussion about format for the following day. Making sure that everyone has checked into their cabins. Then that night your retreat begins in your cabin.
Saturday, October 20th:
Wake up in your CABIN, which is private, but set amidst 51 acres of forest wilderness in the Sangre De Cristo mountains.
You will have entered your space with no electronic devices of any kind…just food, water and you. Facing whatever arises during the day will be your meditation and playspace for reflecting in a natural space. Amidst this simple backdrop, your cabin will most likely surpass what many may consider for a retreat space. Each cabin is complete with bathroom, kitchen facilities, bed and heat. A space all your own, but with nature all around. This will be your reflecting space for the entire day and through to the next morning. Each cabin at Chamma Ling also has a shrine space with space for prostrations, or for exercise, such as yoga.
At some point during the day Charlie will drop by for a private session. This session will respond to whatever is arising, and will not have a pre determined format. We may sit in silence. We might laugh. We might cry. We may or may not discuss any questions that may have arisen for you during the day. The time with Charlie is a time to deeply discern who you are, what you are here for, and how the things on your journey fit into perfect you. It is a time to embody seeing your role as part of nature and divinity. This session will last anywhere from an hour to two hours. The meeting will be a chance to share and reflect who you are when you are just you. It will be a chance to do what many rarely do…to allow ourselves to be seen just as we are when we are alone. So that we may integrate what it is like to genuinely be ourselves when around others.
Sunday, October 21st:
The group will come together for Sangha. This will be a chance for a facilitated discussion of what came up for each participant during their solo time. It is also a time for participants to experience the invariable commonality, that we are all working on the same things, healing the same kinds of things. Lunch will follow.
In the afternoon after lunch, the retreat will continue and branch out a bit further. As a group we will all go do something fun…like a hike. It is also a chance to let ourselves carry over who we discovered during the solo time, into a larger context.
This Chamma Ling based True Nature of Reflection retreat would end on early evening on October 21st.
