I am writing this a bit late because I have already received my first contribution.
First things first…here is the link to my Indiegogo Campaign.
This morning I woke up and finally landed on one side of the fence. I thought “if we want the world to be different, then we need to do it different.” Yes, I may indeed go on my perfect journey into a 9-5 job and work with people less…see less of my kids…etc. But why do that without even trying Indiegogo? Why not give it a shot and see if it is my path to be supported in this space of offering healing work at no cost except a freely given donation?
I had some great dialogues ever since I posted THIS. Then I posted a follow up describing how I work with people HERE. So, when I woke up I just thought…”well what kind of world do I want to support? The one where healers and artists have to put healing and art to the side to support themselves…or the one where these things are actually supported wholeheartedly?” I mean, in a world where an Indiegogo campaign to create a plastic device to hold a cell phone can bring over a million dollars in contributions…isn’t it also a good thing to at least give people the idea that supporting healers is a valuable notion. I realized that even if I didn’t raise the money, it would still raise awareness. Monks, energy healers, meditation instructors, astrologers, artists…people involved in the healing arts in any way..so many of them scrape by. So, at the very least, I put out my campaign to raise awareness of how these kinds of things can be valued and supported, and how they are providing a very important vehicle for people to heal through.
I also just realized how much I would miss working with people and being available to be present for that work that I offer. So, I finally made the video and launched the campaign today. It lasts for 50 days only. It only works if a LOT of people see it, donate something and share it with others.
So, if you have ever read my blog and felt that you were inspired, or that you were touched by it. If you have ever enjoyed my poetry…if you have read about how I work with people and feel it is worthwhile. Just know that all of those things come from having the time and space to offer it. I’d love to be able to continue to offer this work in the way that I have and if you feel the same way…share widely and contribute.
Thanks already to the lovely person that left the first contribution earlier today. It was a great way to start! Also thanks to all the people that emailed me yesterday to discuss and encourage me to go forward with the Indiegogo campaign.
And yes, I totally know that this article is a radical departure from my normal blog tone…more like an NPR fundraising tone. What can I say though…I am motivated to support the work so I can keep on offering it in the way that makes sense to me.
