Introduction

How many times have you wanted to give yourself the chance to just “be” immersed in the New England forest all day long and into the night?  How often have you wanted to just rest there and find refuge within nature and within yourself?   And when completely being yourself, how often is it that we allow another to see that unfiltered being..how often do we feel safe enough to do that with ourselves or another?

This True Nature of Reflection retreat is to support being your whole self, in a deeply natural and uninterrupted setting. It is a time devoted by you, for you, to be you…and then to take that with you back into your world as you depart.

The space I have chosen for this particular retreat is Temenos on Mineral Mtn, in MA.  Imagine the New England forest, your own personal cabin…and the meeting lodge for when we come together in Sangha.  The land is a place where Native American tribes would come together to meet in peace.  The intention of the retreat center is for the land to be used in the same spirit, for people coming together in community and in healing.  And that is what we will be working on there precisely…who are we alone?…who are we in nature?…who are we when with others?  What is it like to be completely seen and appreciated?

Format

Tuesday, September 25th:

Check in and group meal.  Orientation to surrounding, natural setting and one another.  A facilitated group meeting, introductions, sharing about why we all came.  Discussion about format for the following day.  Making sure that everyone has found their appropriate retreat space.  Then that night your retreat begins in your space.

Wednesday September 26th:

Wake up at your spot in the forest…a rustic forest cabin.  This will be your reflecting space for the entire day and through to the next morning.  Each shelter will have access to an outhouse.  But to preserve a space as natural as possible these cabin’s have no running water or electricity.  Simplicity and being in nature is the focus.  You will have also entered your space with no electronic devices of any kind…just food, water and you. Facing whatever arises during the day will be your meditation and playspace for reflecting in a natural space.

At some point during the day Charlie will drop by for a private session.  This session will respond to whatever is arising, and will  not have a pre determined format.  We may sit in silence.  We might laugh.  We might cry.  We may or may not discuss any questions that may have arisen for you during the day.  The time with Charlie is a time to deeply discern who you are, what you are here for, and how the things on your journey fit into perfect you.  It is a time to embody seeing your role as part of nature and divinity.  This session will last anywhere from an hour to two hours.  The meeting will be a chance to share and reflect who you are when you are just you.  It will be a chance to do what many rarely do…to allow ourselves to be seen just as we are when we are alone.  So that we may integrate what it is like to genuinely be ourselves when around others.

Thursday, September 27th morning:

The group comes together for Sangha in the main Lodge.     This will be a chance for a facilitated discussion of what came up for each participant during their solo time.  It is also a time for participants to experience the invariable commonality, that we are all working on the same things, healing the same kinds of things.  Yummy lunch will follow.

In the afternoon after lunch, the retreat will continue and branch out a bit further.  As a group we will all go do something fun…like a hike a stroll…something fun.  It is also a chance to let ourselves carry over who we discovered during the solo time, into a larger context.

The True Nature of Reflection retreat would end on early evening on September 27th.
